Following the route of St Cuthbert, from Melrose all the way to the coast and beyond, to Lindisfarne. The walk passes right by our garden (we are the first stop after leaving Melrose) so why not sample a bit of this well known walk. Time it right and be at Woodside for lunch!

  • Penielheugh & Folly Loch Walk

This fantastic circular walk takes you up a section of St Cuthbert’s Way to Folly Loch and the Waterloo Monument atop Penielhaugh. The views are stunning and well worth the effort!

  • If you are driving, make a detour to Scott’s View and enjoy one of the best views in the Borders
  • Or visit our top 3 favourite craft workshops: Smailholm Pottery, Lindean Glass, Cuero Handbags
  • Or take in another lovely garden and visit Monteviot House Gardens (it’s a short walk away)
  • Nearby Ferniehurst Castle is nearby. It’s a superb example of an original Border fortress, and is open throughout July to visitors.
